Black Limba
Wood Type: Type 2
Exhibition Grade
Price: $439
About
Bass! How low can you go? The Black Limba knows. We often are asked what the “best” wood for bass is; while there is no right or wrong answer, if you like a fat, fluid, thumpin’, and tuneful bass, Black Limba may be the one for you. Highly favored in the manufacture of electric bass guitars, Black Limba gives you that deep, sinewy, impactful, head-bobbing bass many active listeners demand.
Visually, Black Limba is a winner, with dramatic dark streaks that give this wood its name, set against a highly lustrous golden brown background. Black Limba also occasionally features pockets of vibrant orange along with unexpected berry-colored ripples snaking through. Ghostly spider web grain swirls give your pair an unmistakable look all your own.
Drama! Our Exhibition Grade Black Limba are off the charts with spackled, marbled swirling colors. Blueberry ripples, orange eyelets, and deep streaks permeate every facet of these beauties. The bright golden bits practically glow in the dark when the light hits them. Wow!

Asian Satin Burl
Wood Type: Type 2
Museum Grade
Price: $599.
About
We’re sometimes asked if we have any “special” woods tucked away somewhere. Generally speaking, we don’t; but if any wood qualifies for that designation, it’s Asian Satin Burl. Only a lunatic (or Lawton Audio) would work with this stuff, it’s extremely expensive, only comes wet and fresh cut and has to be painstakingly air dried for about 3 years before we can even think about using it. Even more sensitive than most burls, you risk losing a lot of your precious investment to cracking and checking as it dries. If you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, you may end up losing all of it.
Nevertheless, in time for the Holidays in 2018, 3 years in the making, we finally present to you the first pair in this astonishing wood. True to its name, the Satin Burl has a luxurious, sparkly, satin-y sheen that doesn’t fully show in pics. Gorgeous creamy golden hues stream across the surface, dancing and swirling together. But the real star of the show is the unheard of amount of micro-burl present in this wood. This is by far the burliest burl on planet earth. If you are looking for a wood with the most action tightly packed into each square millimeter, this is the one for you!
