LA7000 Headphones

The LA7000 is the absolute pinnacle of what we offer at Lawton Audio, and is truly one of the world’s finest headphones. It comes complete with every one of our carefully selected and tested upgrades, applied to Denon’s finest platform, the AH-D7000.

 

After the developing the original markl Mod for Denon headphones, which successfully resolved the known issues with these wonderful cans, Lawton Audio upped the ante considerably by incorporating the amazing Jena Labs cable to our modified headphones. Never content, it was inevitable we would ultimately take on the final frontier of modification for the Denon headphones– namely custom made, hand-crafted wooden cups made to our new specifications, cut from the most beautiful and exotic woods from all over the world by true master craftsmen.

 

Not only are our wooden cups more aesthetically pleasing, they are made somewhat larger than the stock wooden cups from Denon, putting more air and space behind the driver, and providing a wider and deeper sense of soundstage as a result.  We arrived at the precise size and shape after much experimentation and many iterations of these cups. We are confident the result is worth the upgrade cost, particularly for those for whom having an out-of-head listening experience is especially important. What’s more, because each wood we use has a unique musically pleasing sonic signature, we can work with you to determine which type of wood best suits your listening preferences.

 

In sum, we take the AH-D7000 headphones to the absolute outer limits of their potential. The end result is a headphone-lover’s dream, a set of cans that invites the listener to just get lost in the music. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

Q: Does Lawton Audio maintain a stock of LA Series headphones ready to ship?

A: In general, we try to have some phones on hand pre-terminated (single-ended) with Jena cable in our standard lengths (5.5ft., 7.5ft., and 10ft.). Balanced terminations, cables of other lengths, or cables with nylon sheath are all built-to-order, with turn-around varying from 2-4 weeks.

 

Q: How long after I place my order will I receive a brand new LA Series phone purchased from Lawton Audio?

A: It depends heavily on demand at any one time, as well as the configuration required. If we have the base unit in stock that you wish to have modified with the correct length of Jena cable, and custom cups, you can normally expect a 5-9 day turn-around. If the base unit must be obtained in the marketplace first, the custom cups you want need to be turned, or you require balanced termination or odd cable length, that time will vary between 3-4 weeks typically.

 

Q: Why isn’t there a “LA5000”?

A: When you remove the cable and the cups from a Denon AH-D2000, you end up with the exact same construction/assembly and driver as you would have with a D5000. Using a D5000 for a platform for a new LA Series headphone just means you’ve spent more for parts that are discarded as part of our mod anyway.

 

Q: What if I have a stock D5000 already and want Lawton Audio to transform it into a LA5000?
