Lawton Upgrade Packages: 3 Levels
While each of our individual upgrades is very effective on its own, and we happily provide any product or service separately, we’ve grouped our offerings into three handy packages that represent the best strategies for upgrading your Fostex for any budget or ambition level.
Level 1
Our basic mod recommended for all phones is called a Level 1. It consists of our exclusive Tune-Up, plus a pair of our custom lambskin leather Angle Pads. Together, they provide the largest degree of improvement for least expense from our menu of options. Our foundation mod, start here!
Level 2
Level 2 includes all of Level 1 plus adds a pair of our Custom Wood Chambers. Our latest generation Chambers are like high-tech speaker cabinets for your cans, second to none in terms of beauty, function and sound. We have well over 25 glorious natural ToneWoods to choose from.
Level 3
Level 3 includes all of Level 2 and adds your choice of deluxe custom headphone cable, made to your length with your desired plug at the end to connect to any device in the world. Our Black Hornet delivers unmatched high-performance at an attractive price, while our Black Scorpion provides the best possible connection for the most demanding systems. We hard-wire and offer detachables!
Level 1 Upgrade Package Pricing With Pro Install
When you send your phones in for Lawton Audio’s professional installation, the cost for your Level 1 is $179 including all parts and labor.
Level 2 Upgrade Package Pricing With Pro Install
Level 2 pricing starts at $499 installed when you select a pair of Instrument Grade Chambers. A Level 2 with our Exhibition Grade Chambers starts at $579 installed. If you choose our premium Museum Grade Chambers, your Level 2 total starts at $669 installed. Pro Install on a pair of Chambers is $29.
The Works! Level 3 Upgrade Package Pricing
Our Level 3 comes with everything we do, including your choice of deluxe Custom Cable. The total for your Level 3 depends on the selections you make for your Custom Wood Chambers and your Custom Cable. Our most basic Level 3 package with Instrument Grade Chambers and a short length of our Black Hornet Cable starts at $720 installed.
How Do I Find The Total Cost For My Level 3 Package?
It’s easy. Start with your Level 2 package price and add the cost of your choice of Custom Cable and deluxe plug. We have two Custom Cables, high-value Black Hornet and premium Black Scorpion, plus a variety of deluxe plugs to connect to any device. Pricing for our cables is found on the product page for each. Simply find your desired cable length and its cost, then select your preferred plug and add these together. That is the total cost for your cable. All installation labor and materials are included in your total price, no surprises.
Mod Your Own Headphone & Save!
In addition to our professional installation service, we offer you the ability to perform Level 1 and Level 2 Mods on your own phone! In a few minutes, you can apply your own Tuning, Angle Pads, and Custom Wood Chambers. A fun project for any moderately handy person with a few common tools; plus you can save some money!

Although most of Upgrades are easily installed by most people, not everyone is handy or wants to spend time and effort mod-ing their own headphone. For you, we offer professional installation of all our Upgrades when you send us your headphones. We are located in the USA, but we serve customers from all over the world. Trade-In Your Factory Parts & Save!
When you send in your Fostex for our upgrades, why not save some money and trade in your old parts? Many customers send us brand new phones directly from their retailer of choice. We buy your stock Fostex / TH-X00 / E-MU ear pads. We also buy your stock TH-900 / TH-610 / TH-X00 / E-MU cups. We replace these parts of your headphones, and normally they are returned to you, but if they are in like-new condition, we may just buy them from you. Ask us for details.
